5 Things to Consider Before Getting Bangs

We get our bangs cut for many different reasons. Whether it be after a break up, just looking for a change, or it is the latest hair trend! The look is fun, cute, and sometimes just what you are looking for. I have taken the leap and gotten bangs twice over the last few years, growing them out each time after I enjoyed the time I had them for. If you're considering bangs keep these things in mind:

1. Are you prepared to style them?
Having bangs is like being in a very committed relationship. My hair is naturally wavy and fuzzy so on a day to day basis I deal with my hair in the most low maintenance way I can by wearing it natural and down or in a pony tail or braid. As much as I loved my bangs I had to pin them back many days when I didn't blow dry and/or straighten them when wearing my hair natural.
2. Keep in mind what makeup you use
If you use a 'dewey' liquid foundation can make your bangs stick to your forehead so keep in mind you may have to try a new foundation. That isn't a problem just something to remember to be prepared for! :)
3. If fully committing, are you able to make multiple trips to the salon for touch-ups?
I never fully committed to bangs. After the first cut I let them grow out normally or would only get them touched up once. Bangs were never long-term for me, just something fun for that season. Anyone who is looking to fully-commit to bangs has to remember that you'll have to get frequent touch-ups to keep them short and fresh.
4. Think about all the hairstyle options!
The best thing about bangs is all the fun hairstyle options. Bangs offer a little more spunk to each style than non-bangs hair does. The more hairstyles you wear with your bangs the more you'll love them and feel you're getting your usage out of them. This is the positive and best aspect of having bangs!
5. Be prepared for the award growing out phase..
Since I've gotten bangs multiple time over the last few years and they were always only temporary for me, the last few years I have lived constantly in the awkward growing out phase. Chances are you won't want bangs forever so this is necessary to be prepared for. Many people struggle with it because the phase isn't the cutest or fun to style after just having bangs! Which leads to continually cutting them even when you said you wouldn't. I'd have to tell my hair dresser right when I came in to not let me agree to recutting them because I'd be so close but knew when I sat down in her seat I'd want change and to have my bangs cut again!
Bangs are a ton of fun and stylish so I suggest trying them out at sometime in your life just keep these five things in mind when you go to cut them! After writing this blog post and looking at all my pictures with me in bangs I have an itch to get them again but no worries I already have something stirring to do new to my hair and I cannot wait for that!
xx,
Tay
