10 Things To Do While Staying In

The snow has hit and winter has officially reached its peak. With low temperatures I just want to stay inside where it's warm. Although it's warm, sometimes inside gets just a bit boring so here are a few things you can do while staying out of the cold!

1. Binge Netflix/Hulu
This of course is a no-brainer but sometimes we have to be reminded it's okay to sit down and be lazy for a bit. The next show I'm catching up on is Travelers Season 3. Netflix just released it within the last few weeks. My boyfriend, Dylan, and I watched the first two seasons together but I'm back at school so it makes it hard to watch this third season together. A show I would recommend on Hulu is The Handmaid's Tale. I loved this show and it hooked me despite not being a show I might normally watch. I, of course, always enjoy rewatching shows on a lazy day to see my favorite episodes.
2. Clean/ Reorganize ;)
It is unlikely you find me cleaning because I want to and my mom probably laughed when she saw this as my second item. I'm putting it at the top because it is something that I need to do! I just finished reorganizing my room and closet at school which got me thinking about my room at home! It is full of trinkets from my childhood and old shoe boxes that I thought I had to keep. So that will definitely will be taking a day off when I go home one weekend to take care of that.
3. Try Something New
It was on a cold, lazy day that I decided to write a few blogs posts and create my blog platform. Starting a blog had been a thought I went back to every once an a while so it wasn't until I decided to hang in my house and start typing that I really made it happen!
4. Make S'mores
There is no campfire sadly inside unless you use your fireplace. My roommate Julia and I love to make s'mores though despite not having a fireplace. There are two different ways we make them. The first is a bit longer and in my toaster oven. You just put the bottom graham cracker and the marshmallow in for a bit until it starts to brown then add the rest when you take it out. The second option is dangerous because it's speedy fast so we always want more. You put the bottom graham cracker in with the chocolate then the marshmallow on top. Put it in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. When they start to get big let them simmer down. You can put in for a bit longer after that but they are normally warm by then. After add the last graham cracker and enjoy!
5. Start A New Book
I am the worst when it comes to reading, you normally won't catch me with a book until I'm on the beach. When packing to go back to school I added Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis by Barbara Leaming to my bags. I haven't read a biography before but Jackies Kennedy seems like a good place to start. I hope to read this between classes and work over the next couple weeks. A biography I would LOVE to read is Lilly Pulitzers. The book is Lilly: Palm Beach, Tropical Glamour, and the Birth of a Fashion Legend by Kathryn Livingston. For those Lilly lovers, you can find it on Amazon or Barnes and Noble!
6. Online Shopping
A common fate for my money is being spent on clothes and shoes. Although you probably shouldn't go online shopping and drop your moolah on meaningless clothes, maybe finish up some shopping you need to do. I always have a list of items that I need to search for whether it being for my apartment, myself, things I want to buy for others, etc. So when sitting insides away from the cold you could shop on Amazon or some cute Etsy boutiques for upcoming birthdays, the blanket you've been searching for, a cute shirt for St. Patricks day, you get what I mean. ;)
7. Sleep. Sleep. Sleep.
Maybe you live a busy, hectic life and never take a nap or get to sleep in. Take this lazy time to enjoy dozing in and out of sleep to catch up and relax.
8. Try A Hair Mask
I have not used a hair mask before but they seem like a simple and great thing to do for your hair. I have a few by the brand I use for my shampoo and conditioner I just haven't found the time to sit down and put one in my hair. I hope to use them soon and try some others out! Also a face mask is a great idea but I do those all the time! My favorite is Cup O' Coffee by Lush! It is a hydrating face and body mask that has ground coffee beans in it giving it the best smell.
9. Try A New Recipe
When is a better time to break out your cooking skills and try something you haven't made before? You've got all day to try the recipe so you might as well give it a go! Dylan and I did this one day when I said I wanted try making s'more cookies like what I order from Insomnia. We ended up creating our own recipe and the cookies tasted yummy. ( P.S. I made a blog post for it so you can find the recipe here. )
10. Play With Your Dogs/Pets
Sometimes in our day to day lives we get busy and caught up so we don't always dedicate more than a few minutes when we walk in the door to play with our pups/pets. Although this is supposed to be things to do to stay out of the cold, maybe take them outside for a walk or to play. Then they will be all tired and just want to cuddle up with you on the couch.
Although these are easy go-to's that you probably didn't need to read a blog post about, maybe this is your sign that you need a lazy day off! Stay out of the cold and enjoy doing one or a few of these items inside.
Is there another favorite thing you love to do when staying inside? Let me know below in the comments! (I'm always looking for an excuse to be lazy and stay inside with my pj's on!)
